Rutendo Tavengerwei

About the Fellow

Rutendo Tavengerwei is a dedicated follower of Christ and a PhD candidate in Law at the University of Oxford, where she seeks to glorify God through her research on trade and data governance in Africa. Guided by her faith and a heart for justice, she explores how legal frameworks can foster ethical, equitable economic development, ensuring that technological advancements serve the common good and uplift communities across the continent.  

Rutendo holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa and a Master in International Law and Economics (MILE) from the World Trade Institute at the University of Bern, Switzerland. Throughout her academic and professional journey, she has trusted in God’s wisdom, striving to be a faithful steward of the knowledge and opportunities He has provided.  

With a deep commitment to service, Rutendo has worked with international and regional organizations, including the World Trade Organization, the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, the European Union, and the African Union. Her work in international economic law reflects her belief in justice, integrity, and the transformative power of ethical governance. She has published extensively in her field, always seeking to align her expertise with God’s purposes for global trade and the digital economy.  

Above all, Rutendo’s life and work are rooted in her faith, as she trusts in Proverbs 3:5-6: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight."
